Sony CD-RW CRX0811

The Sony CRX0811 being my first CD burner, I can't really say if it's the best value for the money but it works well for everything I need to do with it, which includes:

• Copying Audio CDs
• Making VCDs
• Making backups of software
• and even data and file backups

Bundled together with this CD recorder you will get the FREE software - SONY CD Maker 2000 Professional from NTI that will allow you to use this machine to do all that and more.

Installing this CD Rewriter was simple as the driver is included in Windows ME, so installing the correct driver was not a problem.

Some readers have issues with finding the correct drivers for Windows 98.

However, wanting to access the CD-RW in DOS when using the Norton Ghost boot disk, I wrote to Sony directly because I couldn't find it on their website;

and got this driver for DOS sent to me via email! Though I must admit, I haven't really used it yet...
