Simulate Includes in MS FrontPage

With MS FrontPage Server Extensions installed on your web server, you can Include one or more HTML pages into any page!

I first found out the wonders of includes by learning ASP where it is possible to do that I suppose you can do that also using perl, PHP and the lot. But HTML? I thought it was impossible.

Well, a real gem using FP2K and a web server that supports the FP Server Extensions, is that you CAN include files.

Imagine you have four pages like in the following illustration:

Screen Sample of Includes I

What you may want to do, is include the first 3 pages into the last page (i.e. index.html). So, you bring up index.html on FP2K and use the Insert > Component > Include Page and point to each filename that you want to include in each row like in the example below:

Screen Sample of Includes II

What you end up with is a combined page that is easily managed like in the sample below.

With this latest re-design, all my pages are actually various smaller web pages put together. The header on top is included, the left hand side menu is another and finally the right side ad and misc section. Click on the links to view the individual pages.

So, in the event I change anything on any one of the 3 files all the pages here will be updated! See how Includes make your life easy?
